Who we are
This shop is run by PLB Sports & Entertainment, Inc., 7342 Brighton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15202, United States. We sell Flutie Flakes™ cereal and related merchandise under license.
This policy covers this website only. If you have a question about anything on this page, write to tballou@plbsports.com.
What we collect, and why
We ask for as little as the shop can run on. Everything below is either something you typed in yourself or something your browser sends automatically.
When you place an order
- Your name, email address, billing address, shipping address, and phone number if you give one.
- What you ordered, what it cost, and the order number.
We need this to take the payment, get the parcel to you, email you about it, and keep the accounting and tax records we are required to keep.
Card details
Card numbers are entered on the checkout page and passed straight to our payment processor. They are never stored on this website and we never see the full number. What comes back to us is whether the payment went through, the card type, and the last four digits — enough to match a payment to an order and to help you if something goes wrong.
If you create an account
Your email address, a password (stored scrambled, so nobody here can read it), your order history, and any addresses you save for next time.
When you send us a message
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, and your message. Those three things are emailed to us and also kept in this site’s database so a message cannot be lost in somebody’s inbox.
When you review a product
Your name, your email address, and what you wrote. WordPress also records the IP address and browser the review was sent from. Your name and your review are public; your email address and IP address are not.
When you play the trivia game
To stop one person claiming the discount code over and over, we count attempts against a one-way fingerprint of your IP address rather than the address itself. The count is kept for 24 hours and then deleted. It is not linked to your name, your email address, or your order.
Server logs
Like every website, ours records each request its server handles — IP address, time, page, and browser. These logs are used to keep the site up and to investigate abuse, and nothing else.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file this site asks your browser to keep. Three kinds are set here:
- Your basket and checkout. The shop uses cookies to remember what you have put in your basket and to keep you in the same session while you check out. Turn these off and the shop cannot work.
- Staying signed in. If you have an account, or you work here, cookies keep you signed in between pages.
- Your cookie choice. When you answer the banner, your answer is stored for a month so we stop asking.
- Measuring how the shop is used. Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, counts visits and shows us which pages people look at and where they arrived from. It is there to measure the shop, not to build an advertising profile of you.
What we do not set: no advertising pixels, no social media buttons, and nothing that follows you around other websites to sell you things.
You can decline analytics in the cookie banner, and you can change your answer whenever you like using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page. Google also publishes a browser add-on that switches Google Analytics off on every site you visit.
Who else sees your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not hand it to anyone for advertising. To run the shop at all, a few companies handle parts of it on our behalf, and each gets only what that job needs:
- WooPayments / Stripe — takes the payment.
- ShipStation — prints the label and passes your address to the carrier.
- Twilio SendGrid — sends the emails about your order.
- Akismet, by Automattic — checks reviews for spam. A review it checks, including the IP address it came from, is sent to Automattic to be scored.
- Google — runs Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, which is how we count visits and see which pages are read.
- Our web host — stores the site and its database.
We will also hand over information where the law requires it, or to protect the site against fraud or abuse.
How long we keep it
- Orders — for as long as we need to support the order and to satisfy accounting and tax rules.
- Your account — until you ask us to close it.
- Messages you send us — kept so we can follow up. Ask and we will delete them.
- Reviews — stay with the product until you or we remove them.
- Trivia game counter — 24 hours.
- Your cookie answer — one month.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to tballou@plbsports.com. We may need to check you are who you say you are before we act — usually by replying from the address on the order.
Residents of California and of other states with privacy laws, and people in the UK and the European Economic Area, have particular rights over their information. Rather than run several processes, we apply the same one to everybody who asks. We do not sell personal information and we do not make automated decisions about you.
We email you about your order because you placed one. If we ever start sending anything else, every message will have a one-click unsubscribe link in it.
Children
This shop is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Keeping it safe
The whole site is served over an encrypted connection, card details are handled by our payment processor and never stored here, and access to order records is limited to the people who need it. No website can promise perfect security, but we would rather tell you that plainly than imply otherwise.
Changes to this policy
The date at the top of this page is the last time it changed. If we change something that matters — what we collect, who we share it with, or what the cookies do — we will say so here rather than quietly editing the page.
